Loud explosions heard in capital of Afghanistan

KABUL, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) — Two loud explosions were heard in downtown Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, at around 9:50 p.m. local time (1720 GMT) on Thursday. Shockwaves from the explosions were felt inside the Xinhua reporter’s residence. Many Kabul residents posted on social media saying they heard blasts, and some local citizens and foreigners took shelter in secure areas.
